Vancouver, British Columbia (October 16th, 2008) – Vancouver celebrities were out in full force for the fifth annual benefit gala, FMA Vancouver "SKY 360" on September 27th 2008 at The Centre in Vancouver for Performing Arts. The event that celebrates live fashion runway with live music and art performance all on one stage overwhelmed the record attendees with its breadth of artistic and technical flair.
Canadian comedian and actress Ellie Harvie along with Erin Cebula hosted the event with an estimated 1,200 people attending the show with a packed house on Saturday night. Twenty three designers, seven music artist groups and four art performance groups showed off their talents. The defining moment of the show happened during Project Runway Canada Winner Evan Biddel's presentation near the end of the show when all three creative facets of the program were united on stage with music from Carly Rae Jepsen 'Canadian Idol' and Esper with their brand of contemporary pop music with fashion from Biddel and the breathtaking aerodynamic acrobatics from the Under Ground Circus.
"I feel fantastic about it," said Andy Chu, Creator and Producer of FMA, noting that attendance at the show and event increased about 30 percent over the last year. "We created something that hasn't been done in Vancouver with the support of our community. Special thanks go out to all of our sponsors, the audience members, designers, artists, musicians, techies and over 200 participants in the show. "
ET Canada and numerous media outlets covered the red carpet. The weekend event also attracted celebrities including Roger Cross (24), Steph Song (Jpod), Christina Cox (Stargate Atlantis), Ron Oliver (Emmy Nominated Director), Michelle Morgan, Cindy Busby (Heartland) along with FMA Awards recipients Anna Kosturova (Fashion), Theory of a Dead Man (Music), Pamela Masik (Art), Malcolm Parry (LifeTime Achievement) and equally well known presenters City Councilor Peter Ladner (NPA nominee for Vancouver Mayor 2009), Arthur Griffiths (BC Liberal MLA nominee).
